Thank you for your interest. My name is Tyson Sanchez and I have been DJing since I was 13 and have a good deal of experience with DJing in a variety of settings over the years. Clubs, lounges, lofts, house parties, boat parties, beach parties, festivals and even weddings!
While I have a great deal of music in a variety of genres, over the last 12 years I’ve focused on global music with a deep and vibrant dance aesthetic. What that means is that I specifically curate music from all over the world borrowing from any genre that I can get my hands (and ears) on. I’m still an avid vinyl collector and regularly do all vinyl sets. If I like it, it can get played. I occasionally feel inclined to jump on the mic to talk a little bit about the song’s origin, meaning and how I connect to it but I mostly let the music speak for itself. I’m typically not drawn to popular, top 40 music but then again… you never know 🙂 I’ve been known to make it all work for the occasion and to keep the crowd engaged and entertained.
Traveling is one of my passions so destination events are very desirable. I’ve become quite resourceful through my experiences with handling all logistics regarding sound equipment, rental and dealings with venue management.
I set up a meeting or meetings over the phone and/or in person to understand my client’s tastes and to have a good understanding of what they are looking for at their wedding. It is important to me that the music reflects who they are as a couple and so I ask for them to provide me with about 5-10 songs that they want to hear and at least 2-3 songs that they do not want to hear. This helps give me a great idea about what direction to head in. Most of my clients want me to play the “wedding version of my club sets” as the majority of the weddings I’ve done recently are with people who have attended my events (or even met at one of my gigs) and have experienced the difference in what I do compared to other DJs.
